Torch of Our Lady of Fatima – Portugal

This Torch has been especially created by the Sculptor Raffi Yedalian, and offered by His Beatitude Eminence Mar Bechara Boutros Cardinal RAI, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, on behalf of the Catholic Church of Lebanon, to the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal, on June 24, 2017, on the occasion of the 100^th Anniversary of Apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Fatima.

In the creation of this Torch Yedalian was influenced by the Crown of Our Lady of Lebanon, Harissa, and the Crown of Our Lady of Portugal Fatima. The interpretation of these two Crowns gather around the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin, Queen of the Earth and all the Universe.

This Torch is characterized by its seven, symbolic and religious elements, symbolizing the seven apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Fatima, Portugal.

1- The Crown of Our Lady of Lebanon, Harissa.
2- The Crown of Our Lady of Portugal, Fatima, which is represented by seven elements that symbolize the seven apparitions of the Blessed Virgin, ornamented with seven emphasized Crosses.
3- The Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin presented inside the two Crowns.
4- In the center of the Torch stands the “Cedar” symbol of Lebanon.
5- 100 Crosses engraved on the surface of the Torch which represent the centenary of the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Fatima.
6- Given the 8.5m height of Our Lady of Lebanon, the gold-plated bronze Torch is thus reproduced in 85cm.
7- In the inner part of the Torch, Yedalian wanted to present an Armenian symbol representing the Armenian Church which is the 7^th letter of the Armenian alphabet “Է”, “I Am Who I Am”, which symbolizes “God” the Unique Perfect, ringed by the Dzidzernagapert Memorial Monument of Armenia.

This Torch is executed in two editions, one for the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima Portugal and the second for the Shrine of Our Lady of Harissa Lebanon.
